Noah is said to have used a fiery red garnet as a bow light while he sailed in torrential
rain for 40 days and 40 nights. Garnet was a favorite of ancient Egyptian jewelry artisans, and was also prized
by Russian Tsars. More recently, Victorian jewelry brought the garnet back into favor. The name garnet is believed
to have come from the pomegranate, a fruit which features deep red-purple seeds. |
