since early civilizations. Mother of pearl artifacts were found in Mesopotamia, dating back to the early Sumerians.
Marco Polo mentioned mother of pearl in his travel memoirs to eastern cultures, and it was popular in India in
the mid 1500’s. The Ottomans empire, now Turkey, brought mother of pearl into the forefront by creating entire
tombs and palaces with the shiny shell. |
